Jason Lynch Notes
Some notes from Jason Lynch's talk the other day:
-Plan stop motion in 2d first
-"Guerilla" techniques are always a good way to start up your own studio
-Be proactive and always ASK QUESTIONS... (ie Jason's foot-in-the-door at Aardman got him the opportunity to work on Creature Comforts and Wallace and Gromit).
-Always think of your character's background - how they would react to certain situations they are placed in, past history etc. Character responses need to be well-designed and extensively thought through.
-Keep the story to the point.
-Don't be too precious about murdering your babies
-Think about the micro-story. Jason mentioned The Iron Giant's bolted jaw and the fact that there was a reason for it, which the viewer discovers towards the end.
And that's it... Hope this helps anyone who forgot their notebooks :)

Sunday Stop mo - Practice
Here's something I animated today... mostly to get the feel of doing stopmo again. And yes, it's awesome fun.
Comments are greatly appreciated! :)

Foetal Jim's Make-over
So yeah, Jim's been getting a bit self-conscious in his old age. He wanted a facelift.
This new and improved version is made out of plasticine and is fully-posable with interchangeable eyes and mouth. Much more effective for animating than the old clay version that looked really immobile when "animated".
After being reincarnated about six times, I think he's going to stay like this.

T-shirt design
Here's a postcard design I did last year... I decided to put it on a shirt.

The Great Yokai War
Here's a trailer for a Japanese movie. It looks a bit like Pan's Labyrinth, but with monsters from Japanese folklore like the Kappa. I'm hoping that the Kappa play a large part in the plotline, as they are a pretty bizarre creature.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to know more about the Kappa, here's a link:
