Sunday Stop mo - Practice

Here's something I animated today... mostly to get the feel of doing stopmo again. And yes, it's awesome fun.

Comments are greatly appreciated! :)

  1. Hey Corey, that's awesome! I like the motion of the animation, I'd suggest a few more frames as it was a bit jumpy and also some of the facial expressions could be more exaggerated, however for a test it's Goresome, it's very professional and I'd suggest talking to some of Frank's teacher contacts for advice and I'm sure they'll let you know techinques for improving the Stop Motion and that, and also Ian may even suggest some 3D stuff etc, it's good I think it's hilarious and I like the colouring, textures, the stage and also the lighting and the sweat was good, the pan could be improved, however I like the style and it's looking awesome, good work ha ha ha!:)

  2. Hi Corey The main thing about animating is actually doing it. Well done for that. But I always harp on about animation happening in the planning. That looked quite freestyle and furious straight ahead. Remember to plan stillness in animation, plan idle animation. Give the viewer time to catch up, or swallow what visual feast you have fed them. Pace it out in a stick figure animatic and use the power planning.

  3. Thanks guys!

Zade, I'm glad you found it funny!

Frank, that is definitely true. It took me so long to just stop making puppets and actually start animating... so it WAS furiously made haha.

  5. That's cool corey, the background design looks really professional, it's good to see the camera moving, maybe add some music, the character design is freaky, the whole world feels freaky, like bump in the night, that stop mo show from the 90's.

  7. Corey, this is wonderful seeing your baby being born!!!!This has so much kick-ass potential, and I can see how you were testing everything and there are leaps in bounds in the fluidity from your first stop-mo. You must have discovered a lot testing this out, and I can tell how much more confident you feel as an animator. I can't wait to see the wonderful results when you combine (as Frank stressed) great planning, essential, with your very original comic movements! I hope your planning to enter comps and festivals, etc when it's finished.

  8. Hey Corey. maybe make a YouTube version as well. I think some animators who wanted to view your work didn't get Vimeo playing well in their Mac browsers. Pop up a YouTube version under the Vimeo one as a safety net.
